Finding Hope and Healing
in Grief Counseling
Marcia Heckman, PLPC

When we lose someone we love, our entire world changes. We’re suddenly living in a reality that feels unfamiliar and unfair, trying to figure out how to breathe, function, and exist without them.
Grief isn’t just sadness—it’s confusion, longing, anger, exhaustion and love that no longer has a place to land.
Everyday moments become reminders.
The empty chair at the table.
The phone that won’t ring.
The song that once made you smile now stops you in your tracks.
You might wake up each morning hoping it was all a dream, only to feel the weight of it settle over you again. Life moves forward, but it may feel like you can’t. The world keeps spinning while you’re standing still, learning to survive in this “before and after” version of your story.
Mourning a loved one looks different for everyone. Some people cry often; others go numb. Some keep busy to avoid the pain; others sit quietly with it. There’s no right way to grieve, and there’s no timeline. What’s universal is the deep ache of missing someone who mattered.
Finding Your Way After Loss
You don’t have to carry that ache alone. Bereavement counseling can offer a space where you don’t have to pretend you’re okay or rush the process. Together, we can explore what this loss means for you—how to honor your love while gently beginning to rebuild your world.
I’m a pre-licensed grief counselor, here to walk alongside individuals and couples as they navigate the heartbreak of loss and the slow, tender process of healing. With compassion, presence, and care, I’ll help you hold space for both the love that remains and the life that still waits for you.
