Primary Fit Anchor: Trauma Impacting Present Functioning
We provide trauma-focused psychotherapy for individuals who recognize that past experiences are affecting current relationships, emotional regulation, and self-perception.
Trauma may include acute events, chronic stress, relational wounds, attachment disruptions, or developmental trauma.
Common patterns include:
Emotional triggers that feel disproportionate to the present situation
Sudden shutdown, dissociation, or heightened reactivity
Persistent shame or self-blame
Difficulty trusting others or maintaining closeness
Recurrent relationship patterns that feel automatic
Hypervigilance or chronic nervous system activation
Often, clients understand what happened logically but continue to experience its effects physiologically and relationally.
EMDR Therapy
Some clinicians are trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based psychotherapy approach for trauma processing.
EMDR may be appropriate when:
Specific memories continue to feel emotionally charged
Triggers are linked to identifiable past events
Talk therapy alone has not reduced reactivity
Available formats (clinician-dependent):
90-minute EMDR sessions
3-hour EMDR intensives
EMDR is provided within licensed psychotherapy and is not a standalone service.
When Trauma-Focused Therapy Is Appropriate
Trauma therapy may be appropriate when:
Past experiences continue to affect emotional regulation
You feel “stuck” in patterns of avoidance, shutdown, or reactivity
Shame or self-blame persist despite insight
Current relationships are shaped by earlier relational wounds
Our work focuses on reducing nervous system reactivity while increasing integration, stability, and relational flexibility.
Not the Right Fit
We may not be the right fit if:
You are experiencing active suicidal intent or require immediate crisis stabilization (call 988 or seek emergency care).
You require inpatient or intensive outpatient treatment.
You are seeking forensic evaluations or court-ordered documentation.
If a higher level of care is needed, we provide referrals.
Therapeutic Approach
Our trauma work integrates:
EMDR (clinician-dependent)
Attachment-based psychotherapy
Nervous system regulation strategies
Trauma-informed relational therapy
We focus on both symptom reduction and long-term integration of traumatic experiences within a safe therapeutic relationship.
